WHO WE ARE
Our project started as a crazy idea. We wanted to do a 8000km road trip starting from Hargeisa, Somalia to Cape Town, South Africa. A gruelling journey across desert, savannah and mountains. But then we witnessed firsthand the water crisis going on in the region. We couldn’t justify spending thousands on tourism so we pooled our budgets and launched “The Water Project.”
We were perplexed by the drought and it’s repetitive nature. Why was it a perpetual cycle we keep hearing about? With that burning question in our minds we picked up a camera and set out to find answers. We spent 3 months travelling in Somalia and Ethiopia and what we discovered changed our lives. We founded Rootworks in response.
Rootworks is a non profit organization that aims to provide access to clean drinking water to rural communities in Somalia and Ethiopia.
